SUMMARY:Intro to eBike Safety and Maintenance
DESCRIPTION:Introduction to eBike Safety and Maintenance is a free\, hands-on\, and interactive course offered through a partnership between Small Planet Ebikes and Community Cycles. In this class\, experienced (and fun!) eBike mechanics will introduce new and prospective eBike owners to eBike systems (how eBikes work)\, eBike regulations\, battery safety\, best practices for eBike and battery maintenance\, and riding practices specific to eBikes. Students should leave this class feeling confident about using and maintaining their new eBikes\, and ready to take advantage of all the ways eBikes improve the wellbeing of not only individual owners but also the community. \nThere are no knowledge prerequisites for this course. Having a basic understanding of bicycle terminology is great\, but not necessary: everyone is welcome in this class. We want to spread the joy of e-cycling! \nWe encourage students to bring their own eBikes to the class\, but do not feel that you must already own an eBike to attend. However\, do remember that this class is not about eBike purchasing. For more information about eBike purchasing\, see the linked resources below \nRegister

SUMMARY:Walk 360 Slow Marathon
DESCRIPTION:Details \n\nTYPE: Long Distance | PACE: Fitness/Conversational | TERRAIN: Sidewalks\, dirt trails\, paved multi-use paths | DISTANCE: Approx. 26 miles\nCelebrate Walk and Bike Month by walking ALL the way around Boulder on the 26-mile Walk 360 Slow Marathon!\nOn Sunday\, June 11\, we’ll go on a grand all-day adventure\, walking counter-clockwise around the city on the Walk 360 route (see the full route map here\, with section timings). We’ll traverse every kind of walking surface in the city\, explore diverse neighborhoods and enjoy cool parks and open spaces along Boulder’s urban edges.\nThe Walk 360 gives Boulder walkers a whole new perspective on the city\, demonstrating walkable connections among destinations and safe ways to get around Boulder’s busiest streets by foot. We’ll have plenty of places to stop for breaks and water along the way\, and we’ll take a lunch break in South Boulder.\nRegistration is required and is free. Everyone who completes the route will receive a Walk 360 sticker. Challenge yourself to this one-of-a-kind adventure! Psych yourself up by watching this wonderful video of the Walk 360\, made by John Simmerman of Active Towns in 2021.\nRegister Here\nSchedule and Planning: We’ll meet at Four Mile Canyon Creek Trailhead at 7:00 a.m. and finish the full loop by 6:00 p.m. We’ll walk counter-clockwise\, going from Lee Hill Drive to North Boulder Park\, on to Chautauqua\, South Boulder Recreation Center\, East Boulder Recreation Center\, Valmont Bike Park\, and back to the starting place. Be sure to drink plenty of water on the days leading up to the event\, and use the restroom before showing up at Four Mile Canyon Creek\, as there are no facilities on site.\nWalking Movement Leader: This event will be led by Darcy Kitching and other experienced Ramblers. Darcy is an avid long-distance walker who created the Walk 360 in 2017. She is the author of “The Best Urban Hikes: Boulder.” You can reach Darcy at (720) 805-8293 or besturbanhikesboulder@gmail.com.\nTrip Notes:\n~ Our route takes us around the city\, in the city. There are plenty of “bail points” if you don’t feel like you can finish the route. That said\, please do prepare to walk the entire 26 miles. Please ONLY sign up for this urban hike if you are ready to walk ALL DAY!\n~ Before the event\, you must DOWNLOAD the turn-by-turn directions from the Boulder Walks website. Please be sure you have the PDF\, and the link to the route map either in Google Maps (in the description above) or Caltopo (on the Boulder Walks website) handy for the duration of the event. Darcy won’t be able to direct every participant on every turn!\n~ Prepare for rocky\, steep\, uneven paths on some of the trails.\n~ We will be taking plenty of breaks and there will be a few restroom opportunities along the way.\n~ Dogs are NOT allowed on this event (some trail sections do not allow them).\n\nFacebook Event

SUMMARY:B360 & B180 - Circle Boulder by Bike
DESCRIPTION:Did you miss the B360/B180 Circle Boulder by Bicycle last weekend? You’re in luck! The signs marking the route will remain up through Sunday\, June 11. We encourage you to get out on your bike and take a spin around the city and ride some of Boulder’s 300+ miles of multi-use paths and bike paths from the best seat in the world\, a bike seat.\n\nWhen you ride\, you’re eligible for prizes from Community Cycles\, the City of Boulder and Boulder County. Simply snap a photo of yourself on the route and post it on social media (Facebook\, Twitter\, Instagram\, LinkedIn or NextDoor) with the tag: #wbmboulder. Then\, during or after your ride\, stop by Community Cycles (Thu-Sun 11am-6pm\, 2601 Spruce Unit B)\, show your photo and choose a couple of prizes: phone handlebar holder\, front light\, rear light or bell.\n~~~~~~~~~~\nSee Boulder from the best seat in the world – a bike seat. \nBoulder offers over 300 miles of bike routes\, paths\, and lanes. Check out some new views on the B360!\n*B-360 is a 24-mile loop that circumnavigates the entire town\n*B-180 is about half the distance\, a 12-mile route that goes through a few different parts of town.\nThis free family-friendly ride begins and ends at Valmont Bike Park. The ride will kick off at 10am\, however\, feel free to start later as the course will be marked.\nStay at Valmont Bike Park after the ride to enjoy free ice cream and local businesses. \nPlanning on riding the B360 or B180? Sign up ahead of time and avoid the crowd. It also helps us know how many people to expect for bagels before and ice cream after!\n\n**Ebikes welcome: While the City of Boulder urges riders to be mindful of ebike limitations on open space trails\, it will not be actively monitoring or enforcing ebike usage during the Circle Boulder by Bicycle (B360/180) event from 10:30-12:30 on June 4\, 2023. We encourage all ebike users to power down their bicycles while traversing the South Boulder Creek trail (note: it is downhill) and to cycle safely throughout the length of the ride for the benefit of all those enjoying and sharing the trails during the event. \n\n\nHere’s the Google Map for the B360 & B180. We will be riding Counter Clockwise! \n\nB360: \nB180: \n\n\n\n\n \nFacebook Event

DESCRIPTION:Details\nTYPE: Urban Hike | PACE: Fitness | TERRAIN: Sidewalks\, Multi-Use Paths\, Dirt Trails | DISTANCE: Approx 13 miles |\nRegister Here\nWalk Description: Our second 180-degree adventure traverses the eastern half of the Boulder Walk 360 Slow Marathon\, closing the loop! This urban hike links the Table Mesa Shopping Center with the East Boulder Recreation Center\, Valmont Bike Park\, and the North Boulder Art District. We’ll take breaks along the way and have lunch together at the end. See this link for a map of the route: https://caltopo.com/m/MFBJ\nSchedule and Planning: We will meet at 8:00 am out in front of the Neptune Mountaineering Cafe in the Table Mesa Shopping Center. The cafe opens at 7:30 am\, so arrive early to use the restroom and/or buy a coffee or tea. This urban hike is 13 miles\, so it should take us about 5 hours to complete (with breaks). I suggest parking in North Boulder near the end point and taking the SKIP bus down Broadway to the starting place.
